The World of Foxes
Foxes belong to the family Canidae, which includes wolves, jackals, coyotes, and other canids. In total, there are 12 species that make up the true fox group, plus roughly 25 more species that are sometimes referred to as "foxes". From the red fox (Vulpes vulpes) found in most parts of the world to the bat-eared fox (Otocyon megalotis), gray fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus), and island fox (Urocyon littoralis), these animals come in many different shapes and sizes.

Different types of Foxes
To understand what makes these mammals so special, it is important to learn about their physical characteristics. Foxes are generally small or medium-sized animals with a flattened skull, upright triangular ears, a pointed snout, and a long bushy tail.
